Agency Fight Night

Agency Fight Night

Three of the largest agency offices in the Cincinnati came together to compete in their craft—as a spectator sport.

Cincinnati, Ohio, USA isn’t commonly recognized as an obvious destination among people looking to build a career in the ad business, yet it is home to offices of three of our industry’s largest holding companies. Putting their competitive relationships to the side, three agencies came together to promote the enticing nature of their work to prevent their city from being, perhaps, the first to fall in the battle for talent.

The “brief” was to unify the voice of the local “creative hub” in such a way that anyone even remotely interested would want to talk about it.

Three of the largest agency offices in the region came together to compete in their craft—as a spectator sport. As a result, the visibility of these local agencies, and the significant role they play in the industry, would be amplified. Additionally, they would create a framework that could be scaled to fit any city’s creative hub, thus magnifying the attention brought to the professional opportunities in our industry over and over, city by city.

With executives from three major clients as the volunteer judges–from the biggest advertiser in the world, the oldest professional sports organization in the United States, and the world’s first professional baseball team–more than 20 people from three significant agencies competed on-stage at a historically noteworthy theater in front of a packed live audience.

Dubbed Agency Fight Night, categories of competition based on common creative tasks such as concept writing and pitching were designed to move rapidly and keep the audience on the edge of their seats. Livestreamed so virtually anyone could be a spectator, teams brainstormed and pitched ideas under extremely short time requirements in front of a potentially unlimited audience. Thus, they were actually showing–not telling–the audience about the culture of creativity that is uniquely available at creative ad agencies in a uniquely exciting way.
